Ro Longden ’28 entered Carthage with a clear vision — to combine their passions for technical theatre direction and computer science into a unique, hands-on education. Their studies have already opened doors to impressive opportunities that are building both their skills and their résumé. During a J-Term study abroad trip to Scotland, Ro served as a sound mixer and lighting assistant for Carthage’s original play “Life Cycle of a Star.” On campus, they have showcased their growing expertise as the sound designer for “Life is a Dream” and the lighting designer for “Dear Elizabeth.” Beyond Carthage, Ro applies their technical knowledge as the sound mixer and student technical director at Pewaukee High School. Blending the artistry of theatre with the precision of technology, Ro is developing a powerful interdisciplinary foundation that will prepare them to innovate and excel in any future career.
When Ro isn’t busy designing lights or programming sound systems, they love exploring the local community. “I love the farmers market,” says Ro, “and Anna’s on the Lake is the best coffee shop in the area!”

Best study tip
“Procrastination will catch up with you at some point, especially with big projects. So, sit down and start the assignment the day it is assigned. I promise it will feel much better than cramming later on.”
Best tip for making friends
“Go to everything. If you’re interested in a club, sign up. If there is a CAB event that you like, go. You can’t meet friends if you aren’t around people.”
